Men of the Imo State Police Command have killed one Chimaobi Okorie, the suspected killer of Police Inspector Vincent Umeh and a 30-year-old member of staff of Ecobank Plc, Mr. Enyioma Okwudiri, in Okigwe town in Imo State.
On March 1, 2017, armed gunmen had shot dead the Inspector on the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway and made away with his Toyota Corolla which he was travelling in.
Again, the same set of armed robbers allegedly attacked and killed Okwudiri and 38-year-old Nanman Lamak, who hailed from Plateau State.
The spokesperson of the Imo State Police Command, DSP Andrew Enwerem, said that the fleeing Okorie was arrested on Sunday at Beghe Guest House following a tipoff.
Enwerem explained that Okorie was part of the gang which killed over five persons on March 1, 2017, who included the Police Inspector and the banker.
He stated that the suspected robber engaged policemen in a gun duel on sighting the presence of the operatives at the guest house.
Enwerem said: “On sighting our men at the premises of Beghe Guest Inn in Okigwe, Chimaobi Okorie engaged the policemen in a shoot-out and attempted to escape through the fence of the hotel, but he was demobilised by the operatives. He was taken to the hospital for treatment but was later confirmed dead by the doctor. “
He said that items recovered from him included: one cut-to-size double barrel gun; four live cartridges; and two expended ammunition. He said the development showed that the Imo State Police Command under the Commissioner of Police, Chris Ezike, is leaving no stone unturned to protect the people of the state.
And in Delta State, the police command has also shot dead a notorious armed robber popularly known as Tompolo in Enerhen, Uvwie Local Government Area.

According to the sources, Tompolo had earned a terror identity for himself around the Enerhen/Udu axis of the Warri metropolis.
The deceased, who was actually shot dead on Sunday, April 9, 2017, by a combined team of policemen from the Enerhen Divisional Police Station and members of Sedco Community Vigilante, had reportedly dispossessed a female victim of a huge amount of money on that day.
The deceased hoodlum, it was gathered, was in company of three other accomplices, who reportedly escaped with various degrees of gunshot wounds.
According to one of the sources, “Tompolo and his boys had robbed a woman who was going to the market of her handbag containing a huge sum of money.
The Divisional Police Officer of the Enerhen police station Hassan Galadima (Chief Superintendent of Police), confirmed the development, saying that three other suspects escaped with gunshot wounds.
He said: “I am aware of the incident. Vigilantes did not kill the robber. They were on patrol with the police. We shot him and the rest escaped with bullet wounds. We recovered some expended cartridges and some live cartridges inside the gun.”
